Get Help From the Library

Student working on laptop at the libraryDid you know that a librarian can help you get access to library resources and use them more effectively? Read on to learn how to solve access issues and get search help.
The most common issue that you might have with the library technology is being unable to login to library resources from off campus. Here are a few suggestions to get connected.
  • First, double check you are using the correct Bengal ID. Your Bengal ID is a nine-digit number that is found in BengalWeb on the "Academic Tools" tab in the box labelled ISU ID. If you are using the correct Bengal ID and last name to login, but are still having issues, report the issue to the Library Systems group or Chat with a Librarian
  • If you are a new student at ISU, you will not have access to library resources until after you have registered for classes. If you are an existing student but not registered for any classes during the current semester, you will not have access to resources during that semester until after you register for the next semester.
  • If you are a graduate students who are working on a thesis/dissertation and not registered for classes, please report the issue to the library Systems group.
  • If you are faculty or staff are unable to get access to University Library resources, please report the issue to the Library Systems group.
We're always ready to help with any issues you may have accessing the library! You can use the chat widget from the library homepage (or on the sidebar of this blog!) to get live help with your issues.

Meeting With a Librarian

Did you know that the library has a subject specialist librarian in your area who can help you search more effectively? Many students know that librarians can help them with their questions at the reference desk or via the chat tab on our library homepage, but you can also schedule a meeting with a librarian to get in-depth help!

Some subject librarians are available to meet in person, and others will schedule a meeting with you via Zoom. Use the Meet with a Librarian page on the library website to discover your subject librarian and schedule a meeting with them.
